Chamber Advocacy
Your Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce is a partner for our community and an advocate for our business members. We do our work in many ways. We are here as your eyes, ears, and voice to stay informed of local and regional policies and legislation that impacts the individuals, organizations, and the businesses we serve.
Quad State Chamber Alliance
The Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce is a founding member and actively involved in the Quad State Chamber Coalition, a regional, public policy and connection organization of the Chambers of Commerce in Mohave and LaPaz Counties in Arizona, along with the chambers in Laughlin, Nevada, Utah and Needles, California. The Lake Havasu Chamber is also active in Arizona Chamber Executives and is a member of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Western Association of Chamber Executives, and the US Chamber of Commerce. However, the Chamber does not automatically align with any other organizations policy or position on any issue. We look to our Governmental Affairs Committee and Chamber Board of Directors to guide our policies that directly affect the businesses that we support.
Governmental Affairs Committee
Our Chamber Governmental Affairs Committee works with our Chamber executive to stay apprised and educated regarding any and all legislative updates that impact our local economy or the individuals, businesses, and organizations that we serve. Their role is to determine recommendations for our Chamber Board on the legislative agenda that is presented to us each year, to provide feedback and recommended outreach to our legislators, and to provide input into the agenda that is presented to the state on behalf of the Arizona Chamber Executives across the state. Our goal is to always serve the best interest of our members and to support our local economy in the best ways we can as a Chamber.
Legislative Agenda
The Board of Directors of the Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce have adopted the following position statements to be regarded as priorities of the business members of this organization.
Childcare Taskforce
The Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce partnered with First Things First, Arizona’s early childhood agency for La Paz and Mohave Counties, to begin to identify solutions to childcare needs for local families, existing childcare facilities, and local employers. The partnership has facilitated meetings with key community stakeholders to identify solutions to: support high-quality childcare, integrate local resources, increase access to childcare, ensure a representation of diverse stakeholders, utilize data to drive informed decision-making, and prioritize achievable action. Arizona’s childcare crisis costs the state $4.7 billion annually in lost earnings, productivity and revenue as working parents miss work or leave jobs because of a lack of affordable child care. While the exact costs to Lake Havasu City are unknown, it is known that there are not enough quality childcare opportunities for young children. When considering the number of Lake Havasu City's young children living in homes where all of the adults work, about 1,000 of those children do not have access to childcare in Lake Havasu City, according to First Things First.
Local monthly meetings drive our progress in solving these problems for our community. If you would like to be part of the solution, please contact andreah@havasuchamber.com for more information on how you can get involved!
